Brentwood High School students previously admonished for dress code issued 500 toy gifts to young patients at St. Charles Hospital. They delivered the items on Wednesday after a door to door collection campaign intended to counteract bad publicity.

A 25 year old Winchester man Franklyn Dickinson Good died when a 1957 MG roadster left west of Winchester, overturned and pinned him beneath. Driver Thomas Winfred Brill 16 received scalp lacerations. passenger Harry James Michael unhurt. The car owned by Susan Ann McCloskey. Good was a Shenandoah College student and Braddock Street Church member. The state police noted the crash occurred on the eastbound lane after the driver lost control. The death marks Frederick County’s ninth traffic fatality that year. He was born July 1 1936 in Intermont West Virginia. He is survived by his mother and step father Wade H Emmart.
Secretary of State Dean Rusk briefed a half dozen Senate Foreign Relations members on U.N. action in Katanga and India's Goa invasion. He said the United States does not seek to impose systems in the Congo and that alliances would not be weakened, but critics remained unmoved.

Gary’s family struggles with irregular income yet he shares with others and rarely misses school.
The United Nations General Assembly, in its 16th session, recessed for Christmas after approving two resolutions denouncing Soviet domination in Hungary and Chinese oppression in Tibet. The 49 to 17 vote with 32 abstentions condemned Hungary's suppression and Soviet violations, while a Tibetan rights resolution passed 55 to 11 with 30 abstentions, with only the Soviet bloc and Cuba voting no on Tibet.
Moss Hart dies at 57 from a heart attack at his Palm Springs winter home. The famed playwright who rose from poverty to Broadway success collapsed while walking to his car and was unable to be revived. He collaborated with George S. Kaufman on classics like You Cant Take It With You and The Man Who Came to Dinner and directed Camelot and My Fair Lady. Hart leaves wife Kitty Carlisle and children Christopher and Cathy. composer Frederick Loewe attended.
President Moise Tshombe agreed to end Katanga secession but said Elisabethville supporters must approve before it takes effect. After 13 hours of talks at Kitona with Premier Cyrille Adoula, they signed an eight point declaration recognizing central government authority and Katanga participation in a future constitution, pending cabinet ratification.
