Eisenhower Returns to Washington After Paris NATO Talks

President Eisenhower lands in Washington at 9 33 a m EST after a week in Paris where NATO allies drafted a blueprint for coping with missiles age. His plane refueled at Keflavik and Harmon AFB Newfoundland before arrival greeted by about 30 officials. Nixon led the delegation. Coty and others saw him off in Paris. He recently suffered a mild stroke but appeared alert as NATO outlined plans to base American missiles and warheads in Europe.

Lawrence Weisdorfer a 45 year old veteran of Corregidor and Japanese prison camps killed three members of his estranged wife’s family in a northeastern New Mexico town and was shot dead forty minutes later by Bradley Weathers after a confrontation with Sheriff Menapace and Town Marshal Powells. Weisdorfer had been captured at Corregidor and spent three years as a prisoner of war returning changed.

Hoffa Wiretapping Trial Ends in Hung Jury

In New York the Federal court trial of James R. Hoffa and two associates ended in a deadlocked jury after 11 to 1 vote for conviction.
