Five youths signed statements admitting gang involvement in the killing of Cleveland officers Gerald N. Bode and Virgil T. Bayne during a gas station encounter. William Fox 60 of Front Royal is hospitalized with a fractured leg after a car struck him near a service station north of Royal about 4:30 yesterday afternoon. Willie Terry, driver of the fiery car, is jailed awaiting a hearing on liquor violation charges.
Frederick Grewen of New Rochelle won $21,000 damages from Mrs James Roosevelt mother of the President and chauffeur Louis DePew in a State Supreme Court verdict. Grewen was injured by the Roosevelt car at Park Avenue and 83rd Street last April 3. DePew drove the car. Mrs Roosevelt was not in the vehicle. Grewen, 34, married with a 2 year old, testified he is destitute and unable to work due to his injuries.
