Unmanned Capsule Flies 130 Miles and Is Recovered at Sea
The United States launched an unmanned model of a manned space capsule to 130 miles height and recovered it intact 235 miles downrange in the Atlantic. NASA said 50 minutes after launch a helicopter retrieved the one ton capsule, which was deposited on the carrier deck at 12:03 p.m. The test, seen by astronauts in training, followed three prior setbacks and aims to guide future manned flights.
