Ten Children Die As School Bus Is Hit By Train
A bus carrying ten children to Silverstreet high school was struck at Dead Fall Junction west of Silverstreet. Driver Richard B. Sanders and nine students died in the collision with a Greenville-Columbia train. Many others were injured as the wreck scattered clothing and books along the tracks in foggy, low visibility conditions.
