Louis Wender 76 of 407 Courtfield Ave died last night at Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born December 23 1878 in Lithuania he came to Winchester in 1925 from Weston Pa and ran Wender's Ladies Apparel Store. He held several fraternal and community roles and is survived by wife Mary McDonald and relatives. Funeral Sunday at 10 am at Jones Funeral Home with burial in Baltimore Md.

A fast spreading blaze swept a 10 room frame nursing home in Beaumont Texas killing four elderly women. Residents say a defective heater in a rear room may have started the fire. Six others were rescued as firefighters arrived and the roof collapsed over the occupied rooms.
