Woman Fatally Burned By Kerosene Blast in Winchester Home
Mrs. Lillie J. Martin, 68, of 78 Cameron St., died at Winchester Memorial Hospital from burns suffered when attempting to start a kitchen stove fire with kerosene. She was found in flames by sister-in-law Mrs. W. J. Butler, as flames and smoke filled the kitchen and water was sought. The stove explosion and fire were contained by local workers before transport to hospital. Funeral plans pending. she was a longtime resident of Fauquier County and member of the Riverton Methodist Church.
