Fires Wreak Havoc in Two Local Homes

Four Hurt In Route 11 Crash Near Winchester
A two car collision on Route 11 three miles south of Winchester at 8:30 this morning injured four people. Reba Hottle of Middletown and Sadie Esther Olsowske of Seneca Falls were treated at Memorial Hospital. two drivers were treated and released. Damages totaled 2 275 with injuries described and vehicles identified as a 1956 DeSoto and a 1958 Buick.

McIlvaine Held Two Hours by Rebel Soldiers
U S Consul General Robin son McIlvaine said he was detained for two hours by rebel soldiers in Stanleyville amid fears Belgian paratroopers would land in Oriental province. 10 000 Miles Nonstop Bomber Breaks Flight Records
A U S Air Force B 52G jet bomber landed after a 10000 mile nonstop flight, setting two world long distance records. The eight jet bomber flew 19 hours 45 minutes on a closed circuit route from Travis AFB to El Paso Andrews Harmon Eielson Phillip and back. Lt Col Thomas R Grissom 36 led the flight.

A rural Wertzville home fire killed a mother and six of her nine children before dawn. Father Ned Walker and two other kids were injured and hospitalized in Harrisburg. another child stayed with neighbors. Firefighters battled near zero temperatures as a stove on the first floor may have started the blaze. The two story frame house burned completely.
