U.S. Considers World Court case over seized cargo plane
The United States may sue Russia and Hungary at the International Court over the 1951 seizure of an American Air Force cargo plane. The plane was forced down in Hungary by Soviet fighters, crew released after six weeks, with a $123,605 Hungarian fine paid. The U.S. demanded return of the plane and cargo or payment of $98,779 plus interest, and sought court records of the trial. The step is viewed as a preliminary, likely futile move.
