Robbery Suspect Returns to Virginia for Trial

John Edward Marsh 29 of Paper Mill Road is in Roanoke jail awaiting federal grand jury in Danville in February and possible March trial in Harrisonburg for the Sept 22 armed robbery of a Commercial and Savings Bank on S Loudoun Street. He allegedly held up Mrs Carol ine Hickerson and branch manager Roxy Hockman at gunpoint and fled with 14220 dollars. Marsh was captured Nov 10 by the FBI after a Reno arrest on a federal warrant and remanded to U S marshal custody. Local, state police and the FBI conducted a major search leading to the warrant two weeks later.

Parade Draws 3,000 for Santa Arrival Downtown

Thousands lined Piccadilly to City Hall as Santa rode at the parade end. Chief J Thomas Boyd called the downtown crowd a packed mob while Ralph Cain led 1500 candy boxes distributed by Santa Helpers. Merchants reported brisk post parade business and extended Christmas hours through Christmas Eve.
