DeGaulle Mends Political Fences In La Rochelle Visit
Star photographer Larry Sullivan captured Charles De Gaulle during a June 1963 stop in La Rochelle as part of a province wide tour to mend fences. The images show the general speaking, citizens awaiting his arrival, the platform with the tricolor and Cross of Lorraine, police protection, and a walk with local officials including the mayor down the street in La Rochelle.
