Decision Expected to Lower Gasoline Prices
In Washington the Cost of Living Council faces a Friday decision to impose new retail gasoline price ceilings by Saturday. If allowed, price rollbacks of one to three cents per gallon may appear, though some stations could close over Labor Day weekend and stickers would note octane and top prices while actual prices stay on pump numbers. The appeals court granted enforcement but gave little time to implement the ceilings before the current freeze's August end.
