Byrd travels to Richmond to meet Chairman Shirley of the State Roads Commission about transferring the Boyce road Millwood to Berryville road and Charles Town turnpike to state maintenance on September 1. Nearly twenty five miles in Clarke county would be state managed and six tollgates would be removed. Work begins immediately with resurfacing using bituminous binders. A Clarke county Board of Supervisors meeting is set for Monday to discuss the issue.
