Marching Firemen Parade Closes Virginia Event in Winchester
Five thousand participate as volunteers from Maryland to Virginia march in gala parade ending the Virginia State and Cumberland Valley Firemen's Associations session. Winchester bands, royal and colonial costumes draw crowds while four local companies lead the escort through streets.

The Virginia Valley Central Congregational Christian Conference met at Mount Olive Christian Church in Greene County Virginia. The Rev R L W W of Winchester presided and Dr W T Walters delivered the annual address. A proposal to rename the conference to include Congregational was approved and the August meeting length reduced to two days. Norman Morris was elected president of the Young People's group with Dofflemyer vice president and Billy Andes secretary. The conference reelected Rev Williamson as president of religious education and named K B Hook as new director.

Oswegethie, a brown gelding from Ernest Woolf's Upperville stables, captured the top award at the Clarke County Horse and Colt Show in Berryville Virginia.
