Aged Man Electrocuted for a 1928 Murder in Arkansas
W. H. Howell aged 64, the oldest man in Arkansas to die in the electric chair, was executed at the state penitentiary at 7 09 a m after long legal battles. He received the death penalty for the 1928 killing of Jess Nicholson at Crawford county infirmary and was implicated in the later slayings of Cliff Deffenbaugh and his wife. He faced indictment but was not tried for those murders.
