Fire destroys elevator and feed at Front Royal warehouse
A blaze at the Water Street warehouse of Southern States Cooperative destroyed a grain elevator and some feed. Firemen from Front Royal and Flint Hill fought the 9 a.m. fire, which was blamed on a slipping fan belt. Flames stayed mostly in the elevator top and shaft as additional small fires were also doused.

Man Injured as Car Leaves Road Uproots Tree
An 82-year-old Front Royal man, Joe Robinson, was injured when a dealer’s auto skidded off Route 522 south of Double Toll Gate. The car uprooted a tree and shrubbery, then rested in the southbound lane. Robinson was rescued by the Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad and taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital.

City rejects plan for underground bulk fuel tanks

Rain and Wind Cause Power Outage in Frederick County
