Rioters clash with police in Watts leading to more than 100 officers deployed. About 15 rioters arrested as bystanders, stores, and vehicles were damaged. A TV unit was burned and a drunken driving suspect, Marqrette Frye, plus two relatives, faced charges.

Gemini 5 planned to rendezvous with a satellite named Little Rascal during a 191 hour 53 minute mission from Cape Kennedy. The mission will end with a Atlantic landing about 500 miles south west of Bermuda.
