Eleven players from the Hagerstown Blue Ridge League team and two umpires were arrested for violating Sunday work laws after a game with Frederick. They waived hearing, held on $1090 bond for the November term of Washington county Circuit Court. Bond posted by the league and club officials. Funeral services held for Mrs George Whirley in Stephens City
The funeral for Mrs May Wiley Whirley wife of George Whirley occurred at 11 a m Wednesday at Carpers Valley Methodist Church after a tuberculosis illness spanning several weeks. In Dover England Lieut Colonel Soreberg a World War veteran started from Cape Gris Nez France at 850 p m to swim the English Channel and quit at five this morning due to cold water after nine miles. Two Drowned In Swimming Hole At Hopewell Virginia
In Hopewell Virginia, Dr John Michalko and Dr W B Woody both of Hopewell drowned at the Dupont Club swimming hole in City Point. Ted Clark of Hopewell nearly died while attempting a rescue. Woody drowned after helping Michalko who was pulled under by the same man.
