Smuggling Case Ties 12 to Contraband Reptiles In U S
A federal grand jury indicted 12 individuals in a two and a half year probe tracing more than 600 contraband reptiles to eight major zoos including the National Zoo in Washington and the Philadelphia Zoo. Prosecutors say the ring moved snakes lizards and other species from France Switzerland Africa and Australia with some deaths during transit.
