In Woodstock a Shenandoah county jury found 45 year old Mrs. Julia Emily Emmart guilty of first degree murder for the Aug 30 shooting death of her husband George A. Emmart. She received the minimum 20 year sentence with stay of further proceedings until Aug 31. She refused bail and has been in jail. four months earlier she was observed at Southwestern State Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

Three Killed In Private Plane Crash North Of Winchester
A Beechcraft Bonanza crashed on a grove near Gerrardstown about 20 miles north of Winchester. Victims include George Baker Treide noted Baltimore attorney, Frank C. Thomas Martinsburg general manager, and E. C. Parkinson Martinsburg flying service manager and pilot. The plane departed Martinsburg at 7 35 a m bound for Kimballtown Virginia and Knoxville Tennessee. The engine reportedly failed before the crash in cloudy Shenandoah valley apple country near the Virginia West Virginia line. State troopers coroner and an ambulance responded to the scene.

Margaret Ann Miller, 12, of 1719 Valley Ave, sprained ankles and sustained brush burns after her bicycle was struck by a southbound car near Willow Lawn. The rider, Mary Jo Wright, witnessed the accident as Miller crossed toward her home. George Lasche, 50, of Miami, Fla., paid a $10 fine for exceeding the 25 mile limit. Miller was treated at Winchester Memorial hospital, later released, with ankle x rays ordered.
