Police Chief George M. Dickey age 78 of Cynthiana Ky was shot and killed while investigating a report that Charles Allen a 70 year old retired farmer lured a girl into a barn. Allen fought off hundreds in a three hour gun battle wounding eight before escaping.
Richmond August 1 Justice H H Davis of the Canadian supreme court was added as a speaker at the Virginia State Bar Association 50th annual meeting at Old Point Comfort. Friday’s program includes Forney Johnston of Birmingham on the Supreme Court reversal and a report by the administrative law committee urging support for federal administrative law legislation and further Virginia study.

Beginning Monday night August 7 the Galilee Church of Christ will hold a home force revival led by minister Wilbur A Reid from Rom ney West Virginia.
