Firemen responded to an alarm at 8 30 this morning from the apartments of J H Berry on the second floor of Berry and Lucas store on South Braddock street. State Fuel Bureau Now Functioning
Richmond Virginia July 31 The Interstate Commerce Commission announced that the State Fuel Bureau is now functioning and will enforce penalties on any non priority recipient of coal and on the carrier delivering it. The commission is drafting more practical operation plans for the law across states with railroads utilities hospitals and other priority concerns. Some non priority concerns reported coal shortages while West Virginia mines increased shipments easing congestion. The Richmond New York Steamship Company warned its supply could run out tomorrow but officials expected an extra supply from the West Virginia mines. The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and Virginian reported near elimination of car congestion in mining districts as motive power improved.
