George Meade Lee 24, a farmer and former University of Richmond athlete, was killed when a Norfolk and Western train struck him as he sat by the tracks at Kennerly Crossing near White Post Virginia. Eyewitnesses saw the southbound freight strike the man as he sat with head in his hands, his car overturned nearby. The crossing has a history of fatal incidents involving automobiles at this location.
