Berlin April 22 The German war office reports Field Marshal Von Der Goltz died at his headquarters in Turkey after an illness of ten days from spotted fever. Paris reports a fierce night attack on Dead Man's Hill by German troops penetrating French trenches but retaken in a counter attack. Sofia bombed by a French aviator covering 185 miles there and back with no casualties. Italy calls up more troops by royal decree. Verdun analysis says French have initiative on the Meuse but no broad offensive.
