A total of 1,934 head of cattle sold at three livestock sales yesterday for $263,946. The largest sale was the 5th Annual Northern Virginia Feeder Calf and Yearling sale at Parmers' Livestock Exchange, with 1,308 head bringing $180,484.33, averaging $137.98 per head and $34 per hundredweight. The Springtime Grass Cattle Sale at Virginia Livestock Market on N. Kent St. moved 608 head for $80,401.72, averaging $131.60 per head and $20.44 per hundredweight. Heifers averaged $106.35 per head and $20.25 per hundred for 46 head totaling $26,797.53, with 181,705 pounds sold. The Tri-Breed Sale at Farmers' Livestock Exchange sold 18 head for $3,060. Total weight across all sales was 1, or more than 758,845 pounds at the first sale and 1,021,397 pounds across last year’s comparisons.
