In Port of Spain Trinidad on April 11 a Brazilian Clipper capsized during takeoff to avoid a fishing boat. Three died: Eric Grough. E Roman Martinez. Amadeo Lopez. The ship carried 25 passengers and seven crew. 22 survivors. The clippers were the largest Pan American Airliners with 114 foot wings and 68 foot hull, cruising at 160 mph. The crash occurred at 5 30 local time.

Norfolk Virginia April 11 The body of Charles Skinner Cavalier Shores a well known tobacco dealer of Virginia and North Carolina was found floating in the surf off Cavalier Drive Virginia Beach. His throat had been slashed and he apparently died about an hour and a half before recovery. Police Chief McClennan said he believed Skinner walked into the water cut his throat and drowned.
