In Waynesboro Virginia on April 10 delegates at the district convention opened without pledging support for Alf Landon. Jacob A Garber Harrisonburg keynoter led attacks on the New Deal and was named district elector. Alternate electors Hershberger and Hart were chosen. John Morrison Harrisonburg named temporary chairman as the day ended with plans to name a candidate to oppose Will Robertson.
