Bloomery Father Denies Forgery Motive for Son
Mr Isaac Kerns of Bloomery West Virginia traveled to Winchester to aid his son Emmett Kerns who is jailed on charges of wholesale forgeries. The father claims his son’s spells since childhood left him helpless at times and suggests a one eyed woman related to a cousin pressured him into forging checks at the Sherioah Valley National Bank. The woman was arrested but paroled after her husband repaid part of the stolen funds. Emmett Kerns owned more than one hundred dollars banked funds a horse and buggy and 20 acres near Bloomery. The father said the son had no motive to forge and may hire a lawyer if Emmett remains jailed beyond the next court session.
