About 383 votes cast over 13 hours for six Common Council nominees in the Democratic primary held yesterday. Ward one had opposition boosting turnout while Ward two was nearly unopposed with about 25 votes in two precincts. Candidates in Ward one were Hollis Marshall Forney and Riley. Ward two nominees were Barr Keffer Snapp. Unofficial votes show Forney 311, Marshall 307, Hollis 243, Riley 101 totals.

Isaac Costner 38, Touhy mobster, was convicted of a $105,000 mail truck holdup in Charlotte last November 15. Judge E Yates Webb sentenced him to 30 years in Atlanta federal prison, declaring such criminals are a hanging offense and must be kept off the streets.
