Aged Citizen Beaten by Two Men on Highway
Isaac Whitacre, an elderly well known resident of north Frederick county, lies in precarious condition at his home near Whitacre from injuries said to be inflicted Monday night by two men. Warrants issued in the city for Gold Parson, 30, and Henry Shireley, 22, as alleged assailants. Whitacre recovered enough to relate his account yesterday afternoon.

Motorcycle Crash Injures One Man in Gainesboro
Walter Darlington of Gainesboro was badly hurt when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Arthur S. Wright at the Main and Peyton streets intersection. Motorists Under Cab Horse’s Feet After North Main Street Collision

Miss Purcell Called By Death
Kathleen Purcell aged 23 eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Purcell of Winchester Virginia died Monday afternoon in Washington after a long rheumatic heart illness. She trained as a nurse at Providence Hospital in Washington and is survived by her parents three sisters and three brothers. The funeral was held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Harrisonburg and she was buried in the local cemetery.

Aged Confederate Veteran James F Wiley Dies at Home
James F Wiley a one armed Confederate veteran and Winchester street figure died suddenly of heart trouble at his North Main Street home opposite the fairgrounds. The 73 year old gardener collapsed after dinner and was found unresponsive. He served in Company K Eleventh Virginia Cavalry and was a longtime Mount Hebron Cemetery attendee. He leaves a brother William Wiley of Clarke County and was a Clarke native. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 5 from Mount Hebron Chapel with interment at Stonewall Cemetery Virginia lot. Confederate Veterans Turner Mehl Camp will attend.
