Wimberley born Peggy Schiflett a San Marcos High English teacher was chosen by the Austin American Statesman as Central Texas Fast pitch Coach Of The Year. Her Rattlers posted a 23 3 season and five players made the All Centex team while three graduates earned college scholarships. Schiflett credits careful scouting and game knowledge as keys to success and notes her husband Raymond aids as scorekeeper and statistician.

Petition seeks local calling plan to PUC for Wimberley and Kyle
A joint petition for optional local calling plans for the Wimberley and Kyle exchanges will be filed with the Public Utility Commission. GTE Southwest plans to present the Joint Agreement of the Parties by June 30. Kyle Mountain City and Woodcreek seek Extended Area Service into Austin and Dripping Springs, with Wimberley residents also joining in.

Woodcreek airstrip ruled not to meet federal standards
Texas Department of Transportation findings say the privately owned Woodcreek airstrip is not bound by FAA rules as it is not open to the public. Mayor Pool released the report noting residents' safety concerns and saying liability rests with the owner. If opened to the public, FAA Part 77 requirements would apply.
