Neighboring districts back local funding for career ladder
Eight Wimberley ISD teachers will lose $1,500 each year after the career ladder was abolished and state funds may not cover current levels. The district reported six Level Three teachers dropping to Level Two and two leaving the ladder entirely due to funding gaps. Trustees declined to allocate local funds at the May 10 meeting, while other districts including Dripping Springs and Blanco have continued supplementing the ladder to preserve previously earned levels.

Hansen resigns as Woodcreek manager
Woodcreek Resort general manager Valery Hansen has tendered her resignation effective immediately after serving since January. Stuart Goldman, adviser to the new owners Dorothy and Ronnie Bertagna, calls it a shock. Henri Haber starts May 24 as food and beverage director to replace Hansen, who worked with Haber previously at the Driskill Hotel in Austin. See Hansen, page 8.
