Robbins and Kelly's famed flight ends with hero's welcome
Robbins and Kelly flew a refueling mission circling an airport while sending notes to families. A crowd over 25,000 welcomed them home with prize money and two new planes. Kelly died a year later in a rainstorm. Robbins later pursued barnstorming and a long aviation career, earning Hall of Fame induction in 1983.
