State Capital Highlights and Political Shifts in Texas
Martha Whitehead sworn in as Texas state treasurer amid plans to possibly shift investment duties to other agencies. Deputy treasurer Paul Williams resigns from the Insurance Board as it will be dissolved in 1994. Scattered reports include appeals against a new school finance law, pre clearances from DOJ, Bustamante trial developments, search for a new insurance commissioner, and a push by ACES against a West Texas radioactive dump. Immunization funding and extended prison furloughs also appear in the day’s notes.
