Wimberley Woman's Club Book Group meets January 10 at 2 p.m. at Joann Cloninger's home. NARFE Chapter 1433 holds its regular meeting January 8 at 10 a.m. at Nations Bank Community Room in San Marcos. Public hearing backs transportation grant for senior shuttle
A Wimberley Senior Citizen Center committee filed a grant application with the Texas Department of Transportation for a 15 seat bus to run two to three days weekly from Wimberley to local shops doctors and to C A R T S depots for Austin. The public hearing drew few attendees but strong support and the panel recommended proceeding with the grant plan under Federal Transit Act encouragement.

Too Bitter building plan eyed to aid county overhaul
Hays County Judge Eddy Etheredge and Randy Chipman discussed using the two story shell of the Too Bitter building in San Marcos for county offices. Chipman negotiated a 60 day non binding contract at 295000 for the shell, the lot it sits on, and a next to it lot that could hold up to 30 cars. The Henry family, owners, were unaware of the county interest during contract talks.

Fire devastates log cabin on Wimberley Square at night
On a cold December Sunday around 12:30 am, a log cabin tourist attraction on Wimberley Square burned, flames leaping from the roof as firefighters fought an intense blaze. Spectators stood nearby while two couples worried for their Christmas plans.

School board approves 1992 93 financial audit
Wimberley school trustees approved the year ending August 31 1993 audit with four members voting yes and two abstaining. The 55 page report by Lynda Morgan of Dickey and Morgan was described as a positive opinion, noting some remediable internal controls and corrective actions already taken. The meeting was held to meet a TEA deadline and was attended by six of seven board members.
