Showdown over back taxes pits water co op and school district
A lawsuit filed by Dripping Springs ISD against Dripping Springs Water Supply Corporation and the Central Appraisal District threatens potential county wide impact. The district seeks 7500 in taxes that would have been due in 1990 were the water co op not exempt. If overturned the CAD chief appraiser and county could face voiding many exemptions and back taxes stretching back a decade or more. Local officials weigh the legal and financial ripple effects as homeowners could bear the burden.
