Texas House passes school finance bill on voice vote
The Texas House approved SUR 7 school finance legislation on a voice vote. State Rep Libby Linebarger, sponsor and Public Education Commission chair from District 47 that includes Hays County, saw the final bill closely follow her substitute proposal limiting recapture to 2.7 percent. Her staff noted opponents aimed to vote on the third passage. Linebarger expressed satisfaction and foresaw enabling legislation next, as the state reports $317 million available with about $300 million saved from a comptroller review.

John Henrys waitress Rosie Long recovering after crash
Rosie Long a John Henrys waitress was critically injured in a one car crash on Ranch Road 2325 when a deer struck her vehicle. Transported by Wimberley EMS to Brackenridge Hospital she faced severe internal injuries and a grim prognosis but showed signs of arriving recovery while remaining in hospital. Donations to help with medical expenses were encouraged at local banks.
