Texas AG threatens suit over warbler habitat rules

Texas Attorney General Dan Morales said he will sue the US Interior Department if the Fish and Wildlife Service designates 33 additional counties as critical habitat for the Golden-cheeked Warbler. He warned Interior Secretary Bruce Babbit in a formal notice letter that enough legal grounds exist to contest the designation. The warbler already nests and hatches within the affected counties as part of its migratory cycle.

Triad program trains volunteers to aid rural families

The Hays County Sheriffs Department launches Triad a volunteer training effort to assist families after emergencies. Trained volunteers stay with bed ridden spouses and young children on site while authorities notify neighbors and await juvenile authorities arrival. Led by Rachel Vasquez and Don Montague the program aims to relieve emergency personnel.
