Little Charles and the Cedar Yard in Llano County Tales
In Llano County tales a narrator recalls creeks and hollers around Cob Slaughter’s place, a Great uncle Joe bragging about the Devil's Backbone, and a windy Cedar yard episode. A county life vignette blends humor with memory of cedar posts, trucking for Iowa, and a neighborly chat with Little Charles on an old mare.

Corny Tall Tales and Big Ears on the Texas Farm
In a Wimberley Mill narrative from September 1, 1972, a speaker recalls shipping twenty fat hogs to market by Christmas, keeping three meathogs, and leaving six sows with pigs. He notes astonishing corn yields with densely planted stalks and ears measuring up to eighteen inches, as locals debate the measurements and tall tales with a truck driver’s swamper observing.
