The Kyle Library Born from a Simple Summer Project

In 1956 Kyle mothers organized a summer reading program that evolved into a full Friends of the Library effort. A donated building, native stone construction by Bill Scudder and local craftsmen, and interior planning by Dr Esther Stallman and Miss Ruby Ethel Cundiff created an award winning library. The project gained community support from Lions Club, Home Demonstration, and Garden Club, with Mrs. Lola Samson as the librarian and Mrs. W. F. Colwell adding an assistant as demand grew.

Joseph Addison argues that punning is a natural seed in minds and highly contagious. He claims no weed can be killed easily when the soil readily grows it. Reason and cultivation by art can curb but not destroy witty puns that spring from genius.

Quotable Lyly Advice on Books Over Money

The line from John Lyly contrasts virtue of study with wealth, urging a life filled with books rather than purse riches. It reflects Elizabethan values favoring learning and letters over material gain. The author is quoted from his 16th century writings.
