The Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department origins trace from 1943 with Allen Boyle supplying a hand pump wagon. A 1952 Chevrolet pumper followed, funded by over 225 donors. The VFD officially formed in 1953 with 24 members, including first president Ben Dee, and later added a 1943 Chevrolet from Gary Air Force Base in 1956 for renewed county defense.
