Goldsboro citizens turned out for delayed Memorial Day ceremonies led by the Carolina Muntinge Band and the Goldsboro Rifles. The procession moved to the Opera House where J Y Joyner introduced Henry Blount editor of the Wilson Mirror, whose eloquent tribute honored Confederate dead and the women of today, as rain disrupted the original outdoor program.
