The Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina mourns Bishop Theodore B. Lyman who died in Raleigh on December 13 1893 from heart failure at age seventy eight. He served the church for fifty two years guiding parishes in Maryland Baltimore Hagerstown Pittsburg Rome San Francisco and North Carolina before leading the diocese split into East and North Carolina. The fiftieth anniversary of his ordination was observed in Raleigh on December 19 20 with wide participation.
