Winter strain hits FELPS customers with higher charges
South Texans face higher electric bills as natural gas prices push up costs. FELPS trustees reported the purchased power adjustment would be a charge of 8.94 dollars per 1 000 kilowatt hours at the Oct 25 meeting. The board noted industry to deregulatory costs are likely to persist.

Floresville Earns Main Street Designation in Texas Program
Floresville has been accepted as a Main Street city, one of four of six applicants chosen for 2001. The city will receive expert guidance and promotional support but no state funds. A director will be hired, an advisory board formed, and start-up funds of 60,000 annually with city and local group backing will fuel the effort.
