Terrie Olenick, 17, was crowned Miss La Vernia 1983 at the La Vernia High School Cafetorium. First runner up Kathie Moehrig, 17, and second runner up Kimi Izzini, 18, were also named in the Lions Club Pageant with sponsors Watco Tanks Puhlmann Vacuum Baumann's Super Market of LaVernia.

The Floresville City Swimming Pool will hold a grand opening on Saturday May 28 1983 at 11:00 a.m. The facility offers a 1983 summer schedule, public access Tuesdays through Sundays, maintenance closures Mondays, and group reservations.
