County upgrades radio network and antenna site

At a commissioners meeting the panel tentatively approved a new antenna location for the county law enforcement and emergency radio system. The current repeater sits on Brazos Electric’s tower in northern Wilson County, where fees jumped from 50 dollars a year to 175 dollars a month in March. The Floresville base station is underpowered and prone to malfunctions, prompting consultants Don McFarland and Ralph Joseph to advise moving the equipment and purchasing a new repeater antenna.
