The fire committee kept the four largest volunteer fire departments VFDs funding at current levels for 1995 with total allocations of Floresville 9000 Stockdale 7519 LaVernia 7000 and Path 6000 totaling 29519.
Commissioner Roger Lopez praised Floresville Path and Three Oaks VFDs for containing a Sunday morning barn fire at Promised Land dairy farm. About 400 one ton hay bales were destroyed and no injuries reported as crews stopped spread toward nearby structures. Evaluating causes Lopez suggested wet hay in a bale may have sparked spontaneous combustion.
