An advisory committee urged Wilson County to boost volunteer fire departments funding to about 75 000 in the next fiscal year from 47 410. The plan would allocate 1 5 percent of annual tax revenue to VFDs benefiting the smallest six of ten units after insuring all firefighters.
A four member U S Marshals Service delegation visited Floresville to review a proposed county jail project that could receive a federal construction grant and provide 161 prisoner spaces plus offices for law enforcement agencies. The visit highlighted potential grant funding and the use of up to 55 cell spaces for federal prisoners at about 40 dollars daily.
