Wilson County will host Steer Validation Day on Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Billy Tieken Ranch on Hiway 97 between Floresville and Stockdale. Map included. entrants should bring steers for the 1980 major livestock shows. Contact County Agents if unable to attend.
The Wilson County Republican Women's Club met June 12 at First City National Bank meeting room with Juanita Mosher as acting chair. Mary Ann Barber reported nominating committee. Jewel Koepp elected president Betsy Herry vice president Gladys Raska treasurer and Mary Grace Coates secretary by acclamation. Vera Carhart installed officers. Linda Burke named publicity chair. Sharon Ammann and Anne Connally co chairs of fund raising. Next meeting is July 10 at 7 30 PM in the bank room.
The Texas Historical Commission nominated the Polley House near Sutherland Springs for the National Register of Historic Places. Wilson County officials and Mr. and Mrs. O W Linne supported the nomination, with a June 9 board meeting in El Paso approving it. The June 10 open house drew 400 visitors and yielded a $350 donation to the county commission.
