New Child Tax Credit Advances in 2003
The Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act raises the child tax credit from 600 to 1000 per qualifying child starting 2003. About 25 million taxpayers who claimed the credit on 2002 returns will receive automatic advance checks, with three mailed payments in July August and August 8 based on the first two digits of the Social Security number.
